Alexander Technique Lessons

Alexander Technique Lessons

What to expect:

The Alexander Technique is not passive, and by that I mean, I will not be working on you like a massage therapist might, but we will instead be working together. I will be using my hands to adjust and coordinate a whole body functioning and you will be mindfully addressing the habits we encounter. Generally we will use activities such as sitting and standing from a chair, walking, use an exercise ball, do some bending, crawling, and rolling on the floor. Wear clothing that you feel comfortable doing these activities in.

What to bring:

Just bring yourself! And your curiosity and a willingness to explore movement.

How long are lessons:

We can do 30 or 60 minute lessons. I would recommend having weekly lessons depending on your needs. As we are learning a new skill, it may take a bit for this new approach to movement to become more familiar. We can go at any pace that feels right for you.

Are there group classes:

Once a month we will have a group class for all students to come to and be able to collaborate and share their experiences, thoughts, and questions.

Can I learn this on my own:

There are a lot of online resources for learning the Alexander Technique; however, the use of a teacher’s hands can speed the process quite significantly. But if you are motivated, long distance lessons via skype or another video platform can be effective as well!
