Our bodies are designed to function in a specific, coordinated way. The Alexander Technique works to put the body back into optimal alignment and to reestablish movement patterns and habits that will support this optimal alignment.
The Alexander Technique allows us to understand the habits we have, address their root cause, and opens the door to infinite possibility.
Most noticeably, changes include: Better Balance Poise and Posture Changes Freedom in Movement + Activity Freedom from Pain Increased Connectivity as a whole Better Awareness of Habits Improved awareness in daily activities Stress management Improved ability to accomplish tasks requiring skill (playing an instrument, playing sports, singing, etc.) Improved balance and coordination Improved breathing and breath coordination |
Everything we do, everything we think, everything we believe, affects the body.
If you think of a time where you were up against a tight deadline for something that was really important to you, what do you notice? Are you tenser now than you were a minute ago? Has your breathing become restricted? Did your jaw tighten? If you recall a moment of clarity, an epiphany moment, do you notice the changes in your breathing? Did your eyes light up? Do you feel more buoyant?

If you were to tighten the muscles of your upper body and attempt to write your name on a piece of paper, is it more challenging? Does it feel stressful? If you release this tension, does the task feel more enjoyable and more sustainable?
So imagine, now, that every task you had to accomplish, you could do with ease. If we do not tire our bodies, if we work with them, as a whole unit working towards accomplishing a task, what would our lives be like? They would be better. This is what the Alexander Technique can do for you. Often in our daily lives, we sacrifice our comfort and ease to accomplish a task quickly for the sake of productivity, when in the long run we are building harmful and hurtful habits. When that same task appears again even without the tight deadline those habits may still be present. The Alexander Technique looks to identify habits that we have towards all activities of life and disrupt the stimulus-reaction relationship so that when faced with that stimulus, we can stop and make a conscious decision to react in a different, more constructive manner and, in turn, making our jobs and the way we perform those jobs, more enjoyable and increasing productivity. The Alexander Technique allows us to understand the habits we have, address their root cause, and opens the door to infinite possibility. |
